fear of the gym is a reality what can be done about it
Have you ever skipped the gym because you were afraid of what others might think of you?
You are not alone! Being intimidated by the gym is real. We will help you overcome this fear ...
Feeling intimidated by exercising in the gym is common. In a poll of 1,000 Americans, nearly 65% of women admitted they avoid the gym because of fear or prejudice, compared with 36.1% of men. Feeling unattractive, awkward, incompetent, and inexperienced can keep people from showing themselves up before they even start.
Perhaps you blame yourself for this feeling. You may feel weak from staying away from these squat benches as much as possible. You may feel like a disappointment because you haven't tried hard enough. So stay in bed. Skip the gym and stay in your comfort zone instead.
At Holmes Residence, we want to make your reduction in love with fitness.
If other fitness centers or specific activities in the past haven't worked for you, we want to change that by as long as you with a community to help you thrive, a lifestyle that suits you, and a place to do that getting the best out of life. Here are leash ways to speechless your gym nervousness and enjoy your fitness journey ...
Get proper training
Every quality club should give you adequate training in the studio on the first day. If not, ask for it. Many exercise machines come with instructions, but proper demonstration can help you feel more confident and reduce injury risk. Your briefing is also a great way to familiarize yourself with the building and the team. If you are concerned about not knowing anyone, now you have at least one person to say hello to - a friendly Holmes Place team member. The benefits are endless.
Put your perspective to the test
You go to the gym for yourself. If your intimidation comes from feeling that people are judging you, then it is up to you to recreate that thought in your head. The truth is, most people are likely to feel just as insecure as you, whether you're old or young, thin or heavy, male or female. Instead, become part of creating a welcoming club environment. Help the newbies. Please don't comment on people's bodies when they make eye contact and smile. If someone looks at a machine as if it has just fallen out of space, ask them if they need help. Just being at a gym helps reduce the intimidation felt by such a high number of people
Form a team
You've probably heard how vital training partners are to your progress. First of all, you need to be accountable - you are less likely to forget if you have to turn down a friend. But that's not the only reason going to the gym with a friend is good - it can also help overcome gym intimidation. Getting in the same boat with someone can make things easier, have fun, and feel less unsafe than alone. If you don't have friends who offer to be training partners, find out if someone in one of your club's courses wants to make sessions a regular occurrence.
