Making ambitious resolutions for the New Year in December and ultimately not sticking to them - we all know that. The game is the same every year: We start the new year super motivated, the supermarkets are filled with smoothies, and many of our friends join the gym. These are precisely the two most common resolutions: eat healthier and lose weight.
But how can it be that, despite this collective
determination to get fitter, healthier and happier, 8 out of 10 resolutions are
broken by February? However, it doesn't have to be like this: stick to our four
tips and finally realize your solutions for the new year - regardless of whether
you want to work on your fitness or lose a few pounds.
Get used to a "more-move-setting."
Wellness and workout should become part of your daily routine. To do that, you need to adopt the right mental attitude. The brain is the most significant part of the body when it comes to sticking to your training plan. Start each day with the determination to move more and keep repeating it throughout the day. Get off the bus one stop primary and walk the rest of the way. Go over to your coworker's office instead of emailing them. Make the after a workout at the gym part of your daily routine, and soon it will become all-natural - with no more excuses.
Focus on the small achievements
You don't get fit, slim, and healthy overnight. To achieve these goals, you need to focus on smaller intermediate goals. It doesn't have to be fancy - climbing stairs instead of taking the elevator or walking three miles instead of two kilometers every week is a good start. Ignore all the overnight changes advertised on social media and remember that you can change your body with just a few hours of exercise per week - it will only take a little longer to see results.
Say "should" less often and more often "will."
Even the way you formulate your resolutions will affect whether you will keep them. The word "should" is fraught with guilt and shame. You should have a salad for lunch, and you should skip the glass of wine, you should go to the gym. Using the word "should," you are formulating your resolutions in a gloomy and noncommittal manner. Instead, say you will go swimming, skip the glass of wine, and eat healthier. This will help you stay absorbed and resolute.
Take care of your sleep
Sleep is often overlooked when it comes to fitness, but it's
an essential part. Sleeping prepares you for an active and productive day and
sets your internal clock. If you have had a good rest, you can do without the
milk, coffee, or the sugary snack in the morning.
