non-surgical cosmetic treatments are gaining popularity
Days of intense pinching, folding and recovery are giving way to innovative non-surgical procedures. In 2018, it was estimated that 89% of cosmetic procedures were non-surgical. Increasingly, less invasive treatments are opted for over traditional procedures such as liposuction and tummy tuck. People still want to improve their appearance as much as ever, so why is the number of non-surgical options increasing?
Recovery time is minimal
Non-surgical procedures require much less downtime than surgical procedures. Anesthesia, incisions and stitches are all hard on the body. Some surgical procedures involve muscles, nerves, and sometimes bones. All this increases the time it takes for the body to heal and the likelihood of repeat visits to the doctor. For many, the time required after an invasive treatment is simply not worth it for cosmetic purposes. It is much easier to plan a non-surgical procedure and keep it confidential. Many non-surgical fat loss procedures, such as Virginia Beach Coolsculpting and red light therapy, allow patients to return to normal activities the same day. This is a huge factor for people who are busy with their careers and their families. The treatments are easy to plan and do not change your life for a long period of time.
Treatments are relatively safer
All procedures, even non-surgical ones, are associated with
certain risks. In non-invasive treatment, special equipment is used, which can
be used for other purposes. Side effects are usually short-lived and include
swelling, skin irritation, redness, bruising, and numbness around the area.
However, the risks associated with invasive surgery can be much more serious.
Every time an incision is made in the skin, an infection is a concern. There
may also be nerve damage around the incision that may never heal completely.
There are risks associated with the use of anesthesia. Minor risks include sore
throat, chills, nausea, and confusion. The main risks include breathing
problems, heart problems, and irreversible cognitive impairment.
Technology is catching up
Doctors and laboratories are creating new methods and formulas that have dramatically improved non-surgical treatments. A new trend is that beauty treatments give smoother and more natural results. The FDA approves the best types of fillers that offer patients a variety of options. Platelet-rich plasma has replaced some types of laser therapy. In 2020, picosecond lasers have been increasingly used for a variety of non-surgical skin treatments. Instead of traditional facelifts, which take about a month to recover, patients opt for fillers and neurotoxins to get a fresh face.
With the increasing quality and quantity of non-surgical
cosmetic procedures, there are options available for everyone.
